The Last Town

The Last Town

Itis year 2030 and ebola virus has spread from cities to towns. There is a man named Mike who lives in Te Awamutu with his sons they're called Alvin, Tom that are his twins and his wife Lisa has gone missing in a mission to find a cure. The twins and Mike and the rest of Te Awamutu are scared but think they're going to find a cure.

“Son please come grab the masks” asked Mike politely
“Where are we going?” the twins wonder.
“Were going to town”Mike replied.
Mike and the twins jumped into the car but something was wrong. No one was stocking up on supplies. Mike jumped out of the car and asked the neighbour a question.
“Why is no one stocking up on supplies?” Asked Mike.
“Didn’t you hear someone got ebola, now please go” said the neighbour. Silently, Mike scrambled back into the car “Let’s go home” as Mike gulped. Mike Finally spilt the beans “Someone got ebola and there's no cure”. Alvin and Tom exploded with fear.

"Knock, Knock, please help me i’ve got ebola” as he bleed like melted chocolate.
“No sorry I can’t do anything” Mike replied sadly shedding a tear. The twins were horrified from the sight, Alvin, Tom you ok” as Mike glares at them.
“Were fine”as the twins shake in fear. The ribbon of darkness quickly falls upon the town. Alvin attracted the virus that night from the stranger. Walking, Mike froze, Alvin was lying In bed “that’s not natural for Alvin” as a shiver ran through Mike’s body.”Don't come near me” Alvin yell’s .
“Whats wrong with Alvin” Tom asked.
“I think he’s got ebola” Mike reply’s shaking.
Alvin turns around and looks at Mike with a tear running down his cheek. “We’ve got to find a cure” Mike exclaims.

“Knock knock”, suddenly Mike opened the door.
“Mike” Lisa (mum) shouted with joy.
“I found a cure” Lisa exclaimed.
“What is it?” asked Mike .
“Blood from a starfish” Lisa replied excitedly.
Suddenly, Lisa pulls out a knife and slits off a starfish arm and blood pours out like a river. Lisa pours the dark red blood it quickly slips into the cup.
“Let's see if it works” Lisa says nervously.
Exhaustedly, Alvin stood up nervously gazing at the cure.
“What is this?” as Alvin coughs.
“A cure” Lisa says.
He takes a slurp.
“Eww what is this” Alvin says with a foul looking expression.
“Star fish blood” as Mike laughed.
“Come on let's go help the rest of the people” Lisa says looking relieved.

Homework Issue

Homework Issue
It is my opinion that children should have to do homework daily. Firstly, homework reinforces and consolidates your learning. Secondly, children will get higher achievement levels. Thirdly, homework helps develop a work ethic.

By doing homework you reinforce learning that you have learnt at school. By practising your spelling you will have a better chance of succeeding in your spelling.

By reaching higher achievement levels it will help you in the future and it will get you a better and successful job. Getting good achievement levels will make you proud and your parents.

By making homework a priority they develop good study habits, it will create a pattern by repeating and practising your set words and tasks for the week.
In conclusion, we should all have to do homework because it will raise your confidence and become good at school subjects. Please take my advice and start doing your homework.

Global Warming

What Is Global Warming?

What is global warming and how did it start. The effects aren't pretty, polar ice caps are melting, more floods and sea levels are increasing. We have put ourselves  in danger and the planet we live on. We could cause our own extinction!

What is the cause of global warming? New technology, cars and the increase of factories, all produce greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are gases like carbon dioxide, water vapor, condensation and fossil fuel emissions.  Only 20-30% of these gases escape from the carbon sheet. The carbon sheet is like a blanket that covers Earth. With the increase of greenhouse gases too much energy is being trapped underneath the blanket. The extra heat is going nowhere but back down to Earth causing the world to heat up.

Heat rising is a very serious role in global warming. It’s most concentrated in the Arctic and Antarctica. The temperature is up 3.9 because of our doings. We have endangered polarbears and it’s getting hard for polarbears to find solid ice. The temp has gone up 5 degrees and people are finding it more common for storms and floods.

Climate change affects antarctic wildlife which is under threat and the most endangered is the polar bears. Their population is down 1/4, if we don’t stop we can cause extinction. The worst thing about global warming is the polar ice caps melting which means the sea levels will rise. The melting rate of ice has accelerated 7%. Now the ice is starting to melt three weeks earlier and winter is shorter and summer is longer.

If we don’t stop the increase of greenhouse gases we might create an unstable hot world. Or planet will change if we don’t act on this problem. The Earth’s fate is lying in our hands.

Aurora Australis

Aurora Australis

Have you ever witnessed nature’s light show  dancing across the night sky?  This colourful display is often referred to, and known as ‘The Southern Lights’.   What causes this spectacular illumination , Aurora Australis?

Firstly, the solar flares get shot off the sun in extreme speed. The sun is always active so solar flares are quite common. This solar flare ejects electrons, ions and atoms out into our solar system. These ions, atoms and electrons travel through space.

When they reach Earth,  the Earth’s magnetic field  stops these particles as it acts as an invisible shield. Because of the shape of the magnetic field all these atoms and ions get  directed  to the Southern and Northern poles.  As they follow the magnetic field they speed up and release energy in the form of light.

The colours are reported to be pink, blue, purple and red.  The different types of atoms determines the differing colours of the aurora.
